SHANE GOONAN studied Music music at the University of Tasmania for five years, then embarked upon a professional career as guitarist and educator. He performed in a variety of funk, soul, jazz, musicals and big bands, touring the Apple Isle. Shane moved to Melbourne in the '90s, and became sought after by some of the more prominent funk, soul and r'n'b bands of the period, including Funken Wagnells, Rev Funk & The Horns of Salvation (led by a former Grand WaZoo member), Wolfgram and Slyde - touring with them up and down the east coast.
Shane came to Grand WaZoo - Kings of Soul highly recommended in 2006, when long-term band guitarist, Roger Treble, passed away. Shane took over the Guitar Chair and has proven a wonderful asset to the band. He is gifted and conscientious in his musical focus, and relates easily to the demands of the job, and to his colleagues. In 2008, he took over the Rhythm Section Leader role, during Peter's time out, and is currently the band’s Assistant MD as well.
